In particular, the management has a special responsibility to:
  • Provide sufficient training, instruction and information to enable employees to perform their work safely and efficiently.
  • Pursue a vigorous programme of accident prevention.
  • Consult with and involve employees on all matters relating to their health and safety while at work.

It is also important to realise that employees have a duty to co-operate in this objective and must respond to the lead of management by:
  • Adhering to company procedures, jointly agreed on their behalf, for securing a safe workplace.
  • Using the protective equipment and devices provided, and by meeting statutory obligations.
  • Working safely and efficiently and having due regard for health and safety of themselves and fellow employees.
  • Reporting incidents that have led or may lead to personal injury or damage to property.
  • Assisting in the investigation of accidents, with the objective of aiding management to introduce measures to prevent recurrences.
